Day Eight, April 19,Day off, Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo. Texas ...

This has been our day off in Texas. Tomorrow we head to New Mexico. This campground is pure west. It is flat, pavement and stone. And what is with this WIND?
The news station said the wind was around 24 MPH. I just wish I had a clothes line. Imagine … by the time I got the clothes all pinned up, then would be dry! The wind blew a camper right into the ground! Ha!
Instead, I took the clothes to the campground laundromat. Of all the wide open spaces here, the laundry space is small and squished. Another lady and I were jockeying for position in front of our machines. Thankfully, we were both nice.
Paul and I roamed around a bit and checked out all the huge and amazing campers. I can’t even begin to think how much money is parked here. If a tornado wiped us all out, WOW, insurance companies would go broke. Well, maybe not too broke over ours … some major rigs here. No tornado shelter like in Oklahoma. I guess we are on our own. I did find a lot of new license plates here: New Jersey, Washington, Arizona, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota. That gives me a total of 26 states.
I saw my first tumble weed today and it was tumbling! I was very excited, but I have a feeling most people around here don’t care for them. It should make good starts for a campfire, but with all the burn alerts and this WIND, no one is going to have a fire.

Instant Pot Pineapple chicken for supper. New recipe (again). The ham and scalloped potatoes in the instant pot last night was good! A bit soupy, but good. I still have a couple more new instant pot recipes to try.
Tomorrow we need to get on the road for Albuquerque, New Mexico. Should be a short six-hour drive. I am expecting great things to begin in Albuquerque!
I may get to go shopping … see some amazing rocks … eat some real Mexican food … wear my turquoise necklace I brought along for the occasion. Until tomorrow … Regina
