Moving along

Another travel day to a new campsite and new adventures. We were lucky to get this site. I haven't been worried about booking ahead and didn't stop to consider the week-end! Everything was booked; we got this site because of a cancellation. Thankfully, as Jeremiah said, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Miles driven today: 144. We were on the road by 10 a.m. I am sorry to leave Monument Valley. I expected a lot less and was surprised to find so much. I loved the Indian stories that were told to me by each vendor and guide. The sites are magnificent beyond words. My heart is full of praise.

Today we headed north up in Utah toward Moab, named by the original Mormon people. We are in the middle of two big parks, the arches and the canyons. We plan to visit both tomorrow.

The scenery, like every day we have traveled, has changed so much. The mountains are different colors (added some pink today), the rocks different, and the trees more numerous. The mountain peaks are now snow-covered. That was a thrill for me to see. According to the campground owner who used to guide tours up the mountain, the snow will melt by mid-July.

This picture is taken from my camper at the campground. If you look real close you can see a house with a red metal roof in the upper left. Yep, I could live there.

The campground is nice, run by a family and small. HOWEVER, they are paving the road alongside it and we had to sit about 15 minutes to be allowed to turn into the campground. We got here about 2 p.m. and it has been a constant roar of the paving equipment since. They are supposed to be finished tomorrow and we are not leaving until Sunday. Tomorrow we have been told to leave by 11 a.m. if we want out and to not return until after 5 p.m. Since we are seeing arches tomorrow (AND DINOSAUR PRINTS AND BONES) that should be no problem. I am psyched to see those dino bones!

Safe travels, no matter where you're journeying! Regina
