Celebrate! We're free!

These are pictures of my dad, my son and husband, all who have served or are still serving our country. Freedom is not free. It was not free for our ancestors. It is not free for our soldiers who continue to fight against tyranny on foreign soil to keep the enemy from advancing to our boarders.

It is almost Independence Day. July 4th. A day off for many. A day to spend with family, sleep in, have picnics, go to the beach. A day of celebration, as it should be. We are a proud nation, a blessed country, a rich people.

It frustrates me when individuals bash our nation, when they state they are going to flee to Canada (or elsewhere) because things are not going their way. I am frustrated over the sense of entitlement that seems to have crept into our society, the lack of work ethics and the general tone of disrespect for our nation.

We do not have to agree with every policy, with every leader, with every change, but we do need to respect the authority they represent. See a problem? Do something to change it. Write a letter, boycott a service, take a stand. Make a real difference other than complaining.

I hope this Independence Day each of us will sleep in, have a day off, get together with family and maybe (if we are lucky) go to the beach. I also hope we will fly your flag and thank God for the freedom we take for granted.

As much as I hate the nay-sayers, I support their right to say their nays. But it is on the blood of their ancestors that they have this freedom. It is on the blood of Christ that we have a home waiting for us in Heaven. As much as I love my country, I look forward to my real home and seeing the Savior who died so I can live there.

Have a blessed week as you prepare to celebrate Independence Day in the greatest nation of the world.

Regina
